Mass and Newtons 1st Law

There are a lot of examples that have inertia and newtons 1st law. One example is a beach ball and rock.Even though the beach ball is bigger the rock still weights more. Also a parked car doesnt move unless you move it. The inertia does not want to move. Also according to newtons 1st law as long as the object is at rest it will want to stay at rest. Also when you play soccer the ball will stay at rest until you apply a force to the ball. If i kicked a soccer ball the ball would continue to move if it was a fictionless surface because one the ball started to move it no wants to stay in  motion.

inertia

Inertia is all around us. You see inertia in your everyday life and you don't even know it. One place you see inertia is when you are driving a car. You can drive at a 60 mph but once you take your foot off the gas you will start to slow down because of friction. The car will want to move but friction is stopping the car slowly. Also if you roll a ball and the ball hits a wall the ball will stop and go negative acceleration. The ball would of kept moving if there weren't objects to stop the ball. Those are some examples of inertia in real life.

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces

The difference between an unbalanced force and a balanced force is that for every force to the right there should be the same amount of force on the left if not it is an unbalanced force. It goes the same way for forces going up and down. if there is 5n up and 10n down the force is 5n down and is unbalanced. But if it is 5n up and 5n down they cancel out each other and it equals 0.

This is a square so the object can be anything so i decided to make the object a rock. There is friction so if you roll the rock the friction will make the rock stop. There is gravity pulling the rock towards the ground but also a normal force with is pushing the rock up.Lastly there is an applied force with is something pushing or pulling the rock.

Vector and Scalar

A vector is a quantity showing direction and magnitude but a scalar is a quantity with only magnitude. So a vector shows direction but a scalar does not.Vectors in real life are used all around us. If you are hiking and the map says walk .5 mi east it is a vector because it says east which is a key word that it is a vector. A scalar in ever day life is say you want to lose 30 pound and you go to the gym.Lets say you lost 250 calories, this is a scalar because there is no direction. That is the difference between a scalar and vector.

Four Forces

There are 4 forces ,applied force, gravitational force, normal force, and tension force. An applied force has contact. It is a push or pull that is cause by an object. In an everyday life an applied force is when you push open a door or kick a soccer ball because u are putting force on an object. Also a gravitational force has no contact. It is the only force with no contact.A gravitational force is when a larger object attracts another object. In an every day life this force is used when u drop a coin and it falls to the floor. Gravity is pulling the coin down to the earth. Also normal force has contact. It is a force on a surface. It usually is something being pushed up.Lastly tension force has contact. It is a pulling force usually a rope for chain.Tension force in real life would be a monkey hanging from a vine.

GUESS METHOD

step 1: what you know
write down any numbers or important info

step 2: figure out what you are trying to find out
as yourself what your trying to solve

step 3:find the equation that you need

step 4:plug in your variables into the equation

step 5:solve
figure out the answer to your problem

Speed vs. Velocity

Speed is how fast you are moving.Speed is like velocity but velocity is the the distance divided by time. Average velocity is the velocity over a period of time. But instantaneous velocity is your velocity at that exact second.

distance vs, time graphs

In class today we tried to make our motion look like a certain graph. These graphs are necessary in school because it show how fast someone is moving. Also it shows if someone picked you there speed or slowed down there speed in any way.

Metric untis

there are metric units all around us.

some examples are

  • liters of soda
  • when you run a 5k run that is in metric units
  • degrees Celsius you use on a thermometer
  • and second is a unit you use to measure time

Estimating distances

I think the front of my house is about 10 meters or about 30 ft. I think this is a resonable estimate because i measured the inside part of my house that was around the same size of my front yard.

distracted driving

I think distacted drivers are bad because they make driving risky for the rest of the safe drivers. For example I remember one time I was in my aunts car driving to her house. W were on the highway and this guy in a big truck stopped fast. He said he thought the car in front of him stopped. Luckily we weren't going fast at the time. That is one time i was in a incident with a driver was distracted.

Reaction Time

A reaction time is is how long a person or thing takes to react to a scenario. Your reaction time isn't always related to science class but also used in your daily life. For example if you are speeding and suddenly there is a red light, your reaction time is how long you take to react to the red light. Also if you are walking on ice and you fall your reaction time would be how long it takes you to grab the wall or railing etc. Your reaction time isn't always about time but about distance for example if your cooking and you drop something how quick you catch the idem. That is what a reaction time is and how it is around you every day.
